I enjoy the most is answering email inquiries and requests, even if it’s a bit tiring, I always extend help to my stakeholders.

What's your job about?

Accenture is a global and professional multiple service company, meaning we help that solutions our clients’ through providing unmatched services in the strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations. I am currently part of Accenture Operations supporting a multi-national client in their supply chain using my expertise in investigating data to make sure all details are accurate and valid.

What's your background?

At the age of 3, I lost my ability to hear but that never stopped me from reaching my dreams. Living as a deaf, I also became a Deaf advocate for Filipino Sign Language, Deaf Awareness, and more with the hopes of having equity and removing the communication barriers, we are facing daily. Being an active advocate for the community, I created social media group called “FSLTreasure” last July 2020.
My Accenture career journey started when I became part of the Accenture Internship Program (AIP) for 3 months in which I am able to experience working in the real business world. Luckily, after I finished my internship and graduated college, I was hired by Accenture and have been working in the company for 1 year and 6 months now.
Being deaf and working in a big company such as Accenture I thought it will be difficult, but it’s not. My colleagues are very accommodating, even those who do not know sign language as they communicate with me through writing regarding our work and other discussion. And I am also glad that Accenture really values diversity and provide equal opportunities for everyone.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Definitely! Accenture is the great company that welcomes people in different backgrounds. As long as you have the willingness to learn and be trained, you can be great at any role or team you will be part of.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

One of the tasks I enjoy the most is answering email inquiries and requests, even if it’s a bit tiring, I always extend help to my stakeholders. I also appreciate my colleagues’ assistance if I encounter unfamiliar processes even if they are busy with their respective work.

What are the limitations of your job?

One limitation on my job working in Finance & Accounting (F&A) is that we frequently have high request queues that we need to accomplish before end of the month which at times, there is really a need to extend working hours. But please do bear in mind that this is part of any job if you want to grow as an employee.

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

  • First is, time management – we need to set up and clear our priorities so we will avoid conflict with ourselves and our colleagues.
  • Second, always prioritize our health and well-being – let’s be vigilant our body, mind and emotions even if we have a lot of things to achieve, it’s important to still get some rest, eating well and exercise.
  • Lastly, try joining extra-curricular activities – gain more skills and experiences inside and outside work/school, try activities that brings you joy and do not forget to make time and have fun with your friends and loved ones.
