What's your job about?

I’m currently working in the compliance testing department; my job is about securing that the branches and head office units perform in the way of manner stated in the regulations. We visit branches and head office units and do the independent compliance testing, do evaluation and recommendations on how they can improve their process and be inclined with regulations.

What's your background?

I graduated from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines got my first job at Malayan Bank Savings And Mortgage Bank in the Compliance Department handling AML Compliance and Regulatory Compliance stayed there for almost 2 years and went to my second job in Philippine Veterans Bank also in the Compliance field but only handling AML Compliance and now in my current job at Bank of Commerce in the Compliance Testing Department.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

The cool thing about my job is I get to travel and go to branches in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao but the coolest thing is I get to learn more about banking and expand my skills, and also meeting different people from different places with different languages and ethnicity.

What are the limitations of your job?

Currently, because of pandemic we only do offsite testing due to travel restrictions and also for our safety against the virus.

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

  • Nourish all the hardships you’re facing right now because it will become one of your strengths when you’re in the corporate world.
  • All the day to day experience when you’re a student will teach you to become a patient, grateful, hardworking, resourceful and kind person.
  • Maturity doesn’t come with age it comes from your experiences, hardship, triumphs and failures.
