Nicolle Bueno

I am proud of being able to become an expert and take ownership of the end to end processes of Influencer Marketing because of my involvement in the Netherlands.

What's your role at Emma like?

My main responsibility is to work closely with country teams and come up with strategies in order to scale up influencer marketing in all Emma markets.

On a normal day, I meet with the global influencer marketing team to discuss global strategies. Afterwards, I have my 1:1 meetings with my assigned countries (Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Mexico, Switzerland, Korea, and India) and we work on how we can localize the global strategies so we can scale up the channel in their market (make emerging and pioneer countries become trailblazers and sustain trailblazer countries’ performance). Apart from that, I work with the engagement marketing team and align on other ways we can all collaborate on future projects.

What's your background?

I grew up in Manila, Philippines. I definitely think my school days and first job were important stages in my life. I have always been very active in different organizations throughout grade school up until college so I think being involved in those things helped shape my work ethic, values, and people skills. My first job also helped sharpen my execution and leadership skills – which are very important skills to have in my current role here at Emma.

I was able to land my current role here at Emma thanks to a friend of mine who referred me. I entered the recruitment process without expecting anything and 8 months later, here I am and I have never been happier! I have the best teammates (in Manila and in Frankfurt) and I find the role very fulfilling. I love how I am able to expand my knowledge and network beyond the Philippines.

What's the coolest thing about your role?

What I love most about my role is that I get to meet so many different people every single day. Being extremely involved in the influencer marketing processes in the Netherlands, I am able to work with Dutch influencers and even celebrities! I am able to learn more about different markets and cultures too.

What can you say you are proud of accomplishing at Emma?

I am proud of being able to become an expert and take ownership of the end to end processes of Influencer Marketing because of my involvement in the Netherlands. It’s especially fulfilling to see the impact of the several tests that we’re running and see them translate to increased revenue for the market. I definitely can say that I have grown so much in the span of 8 months in terms of execution, leadership, and people skills.

What’s the toughest part of your role?

I think the toughest part of the role is the pressure of scaling up the channel and constantly diving deep into specific situations that each country is experiencing and analyzing how we can adjust our strategies to make sure it makes sense for their market. We are very revenue-driven, so there’s always pressure to see week on week growth for all the countries I’m handling. On top of that, I also tend on weekends to respond to Dutch influencer concerns.

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

  1. Go out more and make lots and lots of friends (they’re good connections in the future)
  2. Stop worrying about every single thing and just keep studying hard
  3. Enjoy your youth, don’t rush into becoming an adult!
