I am working as a Data & Analytics Graduate Trainee. As Graduate Trainees, we are exposed to different data pillars around ING to become Data Expert. Currently, I am under Regulatory Ops – Greenfield which focuses on optimizing and automating the KYC processes of the bank.

8.00 AM

Wake up, take a bath, and prepare for work. It’s the first RTO of the week so it’s extra hard to get out of bed.

9.00 AM

Travel to work. Since I will be coming from the province, I need to start traveling 1 and a half hours before my shift starts which is 11.00 am

10.30 AM

Arrive at the office.

11.00 AM

Grab morning coffee to boost the day. Since I woke up early, I needed an extra boost to get me through the day.

11.30 AM

Check and reply to emails/messages.

12.00 PM

Took lunch with fellow graduates/colleagues. We usually talk about the most random stuff during lunch. What I like most about this time is we share our food and most of my fellow graduates are good cooks. Sometimes I don’t buy lunch anymore and would just bring my spoon to have a bite of their lunch.

I attended a workshop about effective business writing. The workshop was enjoyable, the instructor was great and funny. I feel that this would hone my business writing skills as I learned more about email etiquette and how to communicate better in writing.

5.00 PM

I took a break and went to buy snacks with colleagues.

6.00 PM

Back to doing BAU tasks and replying to emails I’ve missed during the workshop. We are usually working on files allocated to us to do a review of multiple entities/clients of the bank. This is so that ING would only be working with clients that are within their risk appetite.

8.00 PM

End of day/Went home from work. On my way home, I would usually have dinner with friends or order a takeout. This time I ordered a takeout and ate it at home. 

9.45 PM

Walk around BGC as a form of workout and also reflect on how my day went. I find it relaxing to walk at night.

10.45 PM

Went home again, washed up, and went to bed.
