Jo

Working from the comfort of home, tasks range from designing marketing materials to keeping up with the latest design trends.

7.00 AM

My body has adapted to waking up around this time because my dog, Pepper, is usually by the window barking at the kids heading to school. I've come to love mornings even more since I returned to my hometown, Bacolod, during the pandemic. The morning rush feels different here, where you wake up to the sound of chickens crowing and birds chirping. But Pepper doesn’t love that. He must have been a grumpy old man in his past life for sure!

7.15 AM

I start the day with a little tummy rub for my grumpy Pepper and some playtime with my three cats, that are also in my room. Then, I play some Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé tracks as I do a quick session of stretches and squats to set the mood. After the rush of endorphins, I take a bath and head down to the kitchen to prepare some rice for brunch.

8.00 AM

Time for work! And, since I am working from home, I love that I can dress up comfortably. I start my work by checking my emails, then checking the list of pending tasks to make sure everything will be done by the end of the day and to manage what needs to be prioritized. After checking everything, I head down again to the kitchen and make myself some matcha tea.

Then, I return to my room and dive into another productive day. My job as a Multimedia Design Specialist includes making marketing materials, presentations, updating website designs, and other design tasks.

12.00 PM

Lunchtime for me and my 10 fur babies. And yes, there are another five newborn puppies from one of the mommy dogs. Fortunately, they're still being breastfed, so I don't need to spend much time preparing their food.

As for my lunch, I usually just heat up the rice I cooked earlier and buy food from local eateries since it's just me and my sister staying in the house. After a quick lunch, I water the plants in my small garden and take a short nap before my lunch break ends.

Back to work. I still have a few tasks on my to-do list. I just need to edit a few more designs for artwork banners and event certificates. What makes my work really interesting is that I learn something new every day. Especially since we work with big tech brands, I stay updated on the latest trends, design styles, fonts, and apps. This constant learning keeps me motivated and excited.

3.00 PM

I blast the music way up to fight off that siesta fever. It's also time to prepare myself a cup of coffee with some snacks on the side to fuel the rest of the day.

5.00 PM

Just an hour before ending the shift, I check all my emails and update my task list, scroll, and browse the website to ensure everything is in order. And since I’ve finished all the tasks needed for today, I use the rest of the time tidying up my table and things in my room.

6.00 PM

And that’s it for today! Before I shut down my laptop, I spent an hour watching Netflix with my sister. Then, I will go visit my parents’ house, which is just a short walk away from us.
