Pros & Cons

  • Even as an intern, we are given enough independence in the tasks and projects we handle.
  • Definitely the learning experience. Working in Nestle so far and being in this role has given me the unique opportunity to learn so much about supply chain in practice, common challenges, as well as Nestle's advance solutions.
  • The benefits and compensation package is quite competitive for a fresh graduate position. There are a lot of experienced and intelligent mentors who can teach us about the industry. I am also exposed to many aspects of the industry, giving me a more complete view of how the different parts of the system interact.
  • The best thing about working in my company, is the number of experiences and learnings I gained during my internship especially when it came to getting a deeper understanding on what brand marketing really is. Moreover, I also admire the drive that people around me have especially my boss. She is someone who always is willing to help me when I have questions or clarifications.
  • The best thing about working at this company is the opportunity to manage projects and collaborate with a diverse range of people. Project management gives you the opportunity to experience the full scope of a project and interact with a diverse range of people, rather than simply being limited to repetitive tasks.
  • The company's decision-making process can sometimes be slow and bureaucratic. It can take longer than desired to get approvals or make necessary changes. Nonetheless, it is understandable for it to be that way given the company's background and history.
  • For operations, entails long working hours.
  • I wouldn't say it is the worst, but I think it was definitely hard to fit in the fast-paced working environment at first. It really does come right away and not much time for adjustment period. It is also hard to fit in the shoes of the previous intern who handled the brand before who I heard was very good at what she/he does, and it makes me feel pressured to also fill in her/his shoes.
  • There's pressure sometimes
  • None so far.

People in the company are very professional. People care for each other and at the same time care that everyone does excellent work. During office hours, people hold each other to a high standard and demand the best work, but also help each other as needed. Outside of office hours, my teammates are close and can talk about their personal lives. People are generally friendly and kind.

Diversity

The diversity and inclusion in our company is very well observed. Discrimination and similar issues are nonexistent in the workplace. Benefits as well for women such as their maternity leaves are even above the average number of days granted by other employers.

As a brand marketing intern, I am in charge of day-to-day approvals of different assets for the brand such as EDMs, banners, and CPAs. I also collaborate with agencies to approve and also give them a run down on the points of improvement in their proposed ideas or plans.

Management
My manager is very accessible and is a great mentor. He truly cares about my wellbeing and performance. Internal communication has the right mix of formality (scheduled checkpoints) and informality (random messages and check-ins as needed). Performance feedback is honest, immediate, and very professional. I am grateful for my manager and the managers in Nestle.

The office space and facilities are amazing. I really like that there's a gym in the office. In terms of dress code, I like that they allow casual and formal wear.

Recruitment
Recruitment process was fast, after the initial interview with HR we had another interview with our hiring manager. Less than a day later, we were provided feedback and the results of our application. The questions that were asked in my interviews were more about my experiences in my previous internships as an intern, as well as my line manager giving me an overview on what working in the brand was like. To anyone applying for this company, data storytelling is an important skill to master. One must be able to communicate clearly what they want to say and make sure that their message is delivered within the given amount of time. Interviewers expect to hear a good story from the candidate. Other than this, it is also important for candidates to have a lot of experience leading their own projects and pursuing impactful endeavors (e.g. internship experience, organizational work, volunteer work, etc.) so that they can develop skills that will prepare them for the workplace. This will also help them build an identity that they would be proud to share with employers.

My allowance as an intern is fine and I am happy with it so far. I think the best perk so far is the free coffee. This helps me set a productive mood for myself and lets me focus and work effectively and efficiently.

Training
Formal training includes event workshops and programs. On the other hand, informal training pertains to check-ins and feedback from line manager. From these experiences, I have honed my skills on creativity, problem-solving, decision making, ideation, communication, time management, stress management, and project management.

Work Hours
I generally like how the schedule is set up. I like how Friday and another date of my choice is work from home and the rest of the days can be onsite. I enjoy working 8 am to 5 pm but also do 9 am to 6 pm if there is traffic and I arrive at 9 am instead.
