Sanofi, Empowering Life

Sanofi is your health journey partner. We are dedicated to being there through life’s ups and downs—for every challenge, big or small, lifelong or temporary. We transform scientific innovations into healthcare solutions to prevent and manage a broad range of medical conditions. We prevent illness with vaccines and provide treatments to fight pain and ease suffering. We also stand by the few who suffer from rare diseases and the millions with long-term chronic conditions.

Relying on our internal expertise and partnering with external specialists, we leverage both cutting-edge technologies and new knowledge to answer patients’ needs.

In the Philippines, more than 400 employees work tirelessly every day to empower the lives of Filipinos. As a company and as individuals, Sanofi and its talented employees have always striven to advance the cause of health and improve access to health care.

We care about every last Filipino, so we strive to act responsibly and with transparency. It’s the only way to help everyone live life to its full potential.

Our Impact in the Philippines

At Sanofi, we believe being a health journey partner means being there for all of life’s ups and downs—for every challenge, big or small, lifelong or temporary. That means going beyond our day-to-day work to make a difference in our communities. From disaster relief to doctor education to increased access to healthcare, our nearly 500 local employees work tirelessly every day to improve health and wellbeing in the Philippines.

Building Resiliency

In the wake of Supertyphoon Yolanda, we donated P67 million to build a hospital that could stand up to future natural disasters and helped build 140 new houses and a medical center for survivors in Cebu.

Expanding Access to Healthcare

Together with a coalition of non-governmental organizations, other pharmaceutical companies and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we’re working to improve access to medicines for major health diseases in Palawan through the Tulay sa Kalusugan initiative. In addition to providing more affordable medication to treat hypertension, diabetes, preeclampsia, and childhood pneumonia, the initiative will build capacity for health workers to enhance disease management and provide new tracking systems to improve data collection.

Fighting Childhood Cancers

In 2006, the Sanofi Espoir Foundation, launched My Child Matters to improve the survival rate of children with cancer in the Philippines and other limited-resource countries. Since then, the foundation has donated more than P14 million to implement awareness campaigns for early detection targeting health professionals and families; neighborhood care by setting a network of 37 facilities for children to be taken care of outside the capital city of Manila; and training of all health professionals, pediatric oncologists and nurses to pharmacists.

Since its implementation, the program has yielded several positive results:

  • Increased survival from 16% to 82%
  • Decrease the rate of advanced-stage disease at diagnosis from 70% to 30%
  • Reduction of treatment abandonment from 80% to 10%

Building Rural Capacity for Diabetes Management

The Philippines geography and inherent Manila-centrism aggravates already inadequate healthcare conditions in the countryside. Nearly half of all type-2 diabetics (43%) in the Philippines live in rural areas, physically and financially distant from the specialists they need for proper treatment.

Rather than pursuing short-term solutions for improving the health of rural patients, such as treating them directly, Sanofi, in partnership with the Institute for the Studies of Diabetes Foundation Inc., created a program to train rural doctors on proper diabetes treatment. To date, more than 500 rural doctors have received the training and education they need to help type-2 diabetes patients lead healthier lives.
