Wells Fargo story

Wells Fargo Philippines was established in 2011 and supports Wells Fargo’s staff functions and business lines, providing the technology, corporate support teams, operations, and banking process solutions for the company to run its business globally.

In 2012-2014, the single identity for the branches across the Philippines and India was established. In 2018 and onward, the company makes investments to develop digital capabilities, automation, analytics, as well as infrastructure.

Despite the development, in February 2020, Wells Fargo laid off around 700 employees in the Philippines and moved their technology staff to India. In May 2021, Wells Fargo completely closed its representative office in Manila to adopt the centralized approach and optimize its efficiency amid the pandemic.

Culture & vibe

In Wells Fargo, employees can enjoy not only their job but also the people they work with. Everyone is approachable and listens to what other needs. They refer to their employees as “team members” because people are considered a worthy resource and teamwork are essential to achieve their success.

The leadership is collaborative, and they do not rely on the top-down approach solely, but also collaborate with everyone to make sure their voice is heard. They also appreciate the differences and individualities of the team members, and these values are instilled in them.

In fact, they have a program called Diverse Abilities Team Member Network in which they increase disability awareness for customers and team members. The work-life balance is also good because the company believes that team members can do their best when they are given the chance to relax and take care of personal matters.

Recruitment Process

Wells Fargo encourages fresh graduates to search the open jobs and learn about the application process on their website. Only the application submitted through this site will be processed.

The candidates are required to create an account and set up their profile in the Talent Community section. They can save their jobs and searches, fill out their information and update it, and also apply for the jobs. This also enables the recruiters to find the right candidates when a position is open.

Once the application is submitted, candidates will receive a confirmation through email. The recruiter will review their profile and contact them with an update. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the candidates may be asked to have the interview process by phone or virtual meeting.

Following their values, all qualified candidates will be considered for employment without regard to nationality, race, religion, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability.

Wells Fargo also offers various internships and graduate programs in finance and other business areas. They want to provide students and fresh graduates with the best possible start for their careers.

The internship program in finance has a rotational program to allow students to see what their interests aligned with. The ability to explore different areas is a huge advantage for those who just come out of college.

The programs vary from 3 to 12 months and may take place during or at the end of the interns’ studies. They will gain on-the-job learning by working closely with experienced team members, and there are always possibilities for the high-performing interns to gain permanent positions.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Depending on the role, Wells Fargo offers a total compensation package consisting of salary, benefits, and incentive opportunities. As an illustration, the average salary per year for a bank teller is between $36,000 to $39,100, for customer service representatives ($39,600), personal bankers ($44,100), and service managers ($50,700).

Naturally, the higher position pays higher, such as financial analyst ($75,000), branch manager ($83,600), and premier banker ($85,600).
