About this scholarship

Applications are invited for two scholarships leading to the degree of PhD in the School of Chemical Engineering.

The scholarships are supported by Australian Research Council (ARC) Laureate Fellowship to Professor Shizhang Qiao“Solar-driven sustainable production of fuels and chemicals”

Field of Study:

The PhDs are to undertake research on the production of fuels and chemicals using abundant sources like water, carbon dioxide and sunlight by an integrated reaction system. Through understanding molecular design principles and material engineering, this project expects to develop a range of novel electrocatalysts featuring high activity, efficiency, selectivity and stability for carbon dioxide reduction and hydrogen evolution reactions.

Eligibility:

The projects are open to Australian Citizens, permanent residents of Australia, and international students who are acceptable as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide.

Applicants require a background in, and should hold or be about to complete an Honours or Masters degree in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a closely related subject area. A Class 1 Honours degree, or a Distinction or higher for a Masters degree with a significant research component, are highly desirable. Equivalent international qualifications will be considered.

Stipend:
The scholarship for each project will be for 3 years with a stipend of $26,682 per annum. It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.
