4.45 AM
Rise and shine! I always start the day with a hearty breakfast, enough to give me a lot of energy for the day.
5.40 AM
Time to leave for work. One of the things I look forward to on the way to work is this beautiful sunrise view.
5.55 AM
I clock in once I arrive and change into my plant uniform. Once I arrive in the office, I create my to-do list and check my emails to review our daily production reports.
7.00 AM
Our team of operators, technicians, and supervisors meet in the production line to discuss the performance yesterday and what we need to focus on for the day.
8.00 AM
All plant leaders gather for a quick meeting to create their game plan for the day and ask support from other departments.
9.00 AM
Time to Learn! As a management trainee, we are given the opportunity to learn from the different departments that run an entire manufacturing plant.
First is my Quality Assurance Immersion. Here, I get to learn and experience the different quality tests done for our raw and packaging materials as well as final products.
Next is my Planning and Logistics Immersion where I learned the process of the movement of our raw materials from suppliers to the plant and our finished goods from warehouses to our customers.
Now my Production Immersion. Here, I learned the operation of the different sections in the production line. With the help of our plant leaders, I learned to analyze the performance of the line as a whole and help find ways with the team to further improve its productivity and quality.
Finally, my Maintenance Immersion where I learned all about the different machines that run our production line and how they are maintained through cleaning, proper monitoring, and execution of scheduled preventive maintenance. We also get first-hand experience on trouble shooting, machine repair, and improvement projects.
I also spend some time of the day to work on projects and attend meetings that allow me to become aware of the current situation of the plant.
As someone new to the manufacturing industry, I am grateful to be guided by several mentors who help me develop my technical knowledge and people management skills. I would share to them the things I’m learning in my cadetship program and they would also provide me tasks or challenge questions that will help me hone my analytical and problem-solving skills.
Even during this pandemic, I’m given the opportunity to join various trainings that help develop my leadership skills along with my fellow management trainees. All trainings are done through virtual sessions for now because the company wants to always keep us healthy and safe during this pandemic.
I have two 15 mins break times throughout my 12 hour shift however I usually like combining them into one 30 min breaktime from 12:00 – 12:30.
18.00 PM
I then clock out, change out of my plant uniform and head home.
18.30 PM
Once I get home, I enjoy dinner time with my family and watch my favorite Netflix shows (Korean dramas are my favorite)
21.30 PM
Time for bed! Need to get lots of rest for another day filled with learning.
