The Ubisoft Story

Ubisoft’s 20,000 team members, working across more than 40 locations around the world, are bound by a common mission to enrich players’ lives with original and memorable gaming experiences. Their dedication and talent have brought to life many acclaimed franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Just Dance, Rainbow Six, and many more to come. Ubisoft is an equal-opportunity employer that believes diverse backgrounds and perspectives are key to creating worlds where both players and teams can thrive and express themselves.

Ubisoft may have 19,000 employees in offices and studios around the world, but the company began with a family. Yves Guillemot and his four brothers, whose parents had an agricultural trading business in the Brittany region of France, developed an interest in technology while providing farmers with computer programs to track their goods and sales. It became clear to the brothers that the nascent software industry could become a very different kind of family business.

The five Guillemot brothers founded Ubisoft in 1986, and soon a band of brothers became a worldwide network of 20000 people who grow and learn together. These family roots have helped shape Ubisoft today, encouraging all team members to dream big, embrace the entrepreneurial spirit, and work to create an open and welcoming environment where everyone is respected.

Ubisoft’s expansion to a worldwide network of studios and offices spanning 55 countries began in Romania, Canada, and China throughout the 1990s. Establishing an international presence was key to keeping up with the gaming industry’s explosive growth. Today, they still learn by trying new things and encourage this attitude in their teams. This allows everyone to continue to evolve and drives Ubisoft to be a pioneer in gaming and entertainment. No matter where teams start at Ubisoft, there are always opportunities to continually develop skills and acquire new ones.

Recruitment Process

Since 2006, Ubisoft Sofia has been constantly and sustainably growing, both in terms of project scope and number. They are always on the lookout for talented professionals to join their teams and help them create the games of the future. If you see yourself working on exciting projects and creating the unknown with them, learn more about their hiring process and join them.

Once you submit your application through the careers website, your profile is reviewed in detail by their recruiters. Artists are always required to submit a portfolio. For all positions, selected candidates are asked to take a test to assess specific skills and relevant competencies. Candidates meeting the job requirements are invited for an interview with the respective team lead. In some cases, the HR manager and the team lead will interview you together. This is also the time to ask any questions about the job, the studio, and what it’s like working for them.

Always prepare your application in relation to the type of job you want to pursue. Your CV and cover letter should tell them about your studies, the skills you learned at school/university or at your previous employments, the activities you prefer doing in your free time, and the job you are interested in and why. But what they value the most is what you are able to do and show them. Developing your own portfolio, projects, or game prototypes is what will help you the most in front of recruiters and team leads. Document your project experience and clearly explain the context of your work. Focus on quality rather than quantity.

If they don’t have a current opening for the job you want to pursue, don’t hesitate to send your CV, cover letter, and portfolio via email. You can also contact their HR team any time you have a question related to your potential to develop in the gaming industry, or when you simply need career advice.
